Additional Specialized Services & Programs (

EOPS (Extended Opportunity Programs and Services) |
Purpose - Provide special recruitment, retention, and transition services to eligible students. EOPS is a State-funded student support services program.
Eligibility Requirements
§ Resident of the state of California (as determined by the Admissions Office)
§ Full time student (or plan to be) enrolled in a minimum of 12 units, with at least 9 of these units taken at City College
§ Qualify to receive a Board of Governors Waiver A or B
§ Have not completed 70 (or more) units of degree-applicable college course work, including courses taken at other colleges.
§ Determined to be educationally disadvantaged by meeting any one of several conditions. Note: Contact EOPS office for specific criteria.
§ Complete an EOPS application
§ Complete Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. It is recommended that students complete the FAFSA by the priority filing date published by the Financial Aid Office
§ Applications are available in the EOPS and Financial Aid Offices
§ Students should apply early to ensure that they receive consideration for all services.

§ Counseling/advisement and Peer advisement
§ Preparation for transition to four-year schools/the workplace
§ E.O.P.S. Club and Associated Student Body membership (Note: Contact Student Affairs in Room D-106 for membership benefits)
§ Vocational Assessment
§ Photocopy services
Summer Readiness Program (SRP)
§ SRP is a summer orientation for first-time college students
§ Participating students attend classes four days each week for eight weeks
§ The course work includes material designed to develop and enhance college survival skills
§ In addition to the course work, a full compliment of EOPS services is provided
§ Applications: Available in early January and accepted until the end of the first week of April. Contact the EOPS Office for details.
CARE (Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education)
§ CARE provides additional support services for EOPS students, including grant funds, to address those needs that are unique to single parents
§ Eligibility Requirements:
· Meet requirements for EOPS
· Single head of household
· Are at least 18 years of age
· Have at least one child under 14 years of age
· Family receives CALWORKS assistance (cash aid)
