ATHLETIC TRAINING
Well-trained and highly qualified trainers are a vital part of the intercollegiate athletic experience at San Diego City College. The training staff at SDCC includes:
Lori Ray, MEd, ATC
Staff Athletic Trainer

Lori has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education, with an emphasis in Athletic Training, from San Diego State University. She is certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association.  Lori obtained her Masters Degree in Education from Azuza Pacific University.

Born and raised in San Diego, she graduated from Madison High School and Mesa College. She started her career at City College, filling in for the athletic trainer, who went on maternity leave. Lori continued in a part time status working mostly with the Men's Basketball Program until March of 1999, when she joined the Athletic Medicine Staff, working with all the athletes in our program.

Lori also has worked at the Arco Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista in the sports medicine department. She had the opportunity to deal with athletes on all levels, from developmental to elite status. As a member of the sports medicine pool for the US Field Hockey Association, she often travels with both the men's and women's National Teams. These journeys have taken her to Europe, Canada, and across the United States.

WHAT IS A CERTIFIED ATHLETIC TRAINER?
Certified Athletic Trainers (ATCs) are specialists in the prevention, evaluation, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and are recognized by the American Medical Association as Allied Health Care Providers. It is a challenging and rewarding field for people who love sports. Do you know that career opportunities exist at every level of competition? From high school to professional sports, there will always be a need for a dedicated, certified athletic trainer. Call the San Diego City College Training Room for more information at (619) 388-3750.
